FAASIK PARTICIPATES ON EDUCATING THE EASTLEIGH COMMUNITY ABOUT FAMILY PLANNING

On August 26, 2021, FAASIK in collaboration with the Eastleigh Dispensary held a community mobilization and awareness family planning event targeting the youth mothers especially from the Muslim Community. The event focused on educating and creating awareness on the use of family planning. During the training, the FAASIK volunteers together with the nurses and community health workers led the young mothers through an educative and interactive session about various methods of Family Planning. This included the use of implant, condoms, pills and the injection.  “Young mothers need to plan about getting pregnant. So, I encourage you to use either of the family planning method to plan about your future pregnancy,” said a community nurse.

The young mothers were so receptive about the training and awareness forum. At the end of the training, the young mothers held one on one conversation with the volunteers and nurses. They were able to ask personal questions in order to deepen their understanding about family planning. As a result, many women volunteered to use the family planning methods.
